Some people have been having trouble getting into the book by clicking on the weblink that I put in my email. This seems to have something to do with the way the Curtin firewall is working. Other people are not having a problem. If you are one of the ones that is, one solution apears to be to paste the address into your browser. The helpful IT person I am working with on this is quite mystified.

Hi Everybody,

Some of you may know Dave Warner's music. For those of you that don't, Warner was a major figure on the Perth music scene during the 1970s. In 1978 his album _Mug's Game_ was released. It went gold nationally. Warner is renowned for his celebration of the suburbs--his most well-known song is 'Suburban Boy,' a version of which is on _Mug's Game_.

A few of you may know that Alan Howard published a short-run biography of Warner's early life in Perth in 1981. This book has not been easy to get hold of. I am now glad to be able to tell you that, with financial help from the Faculty of Media, Society and Culture at Curtin University of Technology, I have been able to get Howard's book, _Dave Warner: Suburban Boy_, put on the web. It is a fascinating account of growing up in Perth during the 1960s and 1970s and, of course, includes much material about Warner's early influences. You will find the book at: http://info.ccs.curtin.edu.au/DaveWarner_book.cfm .
