face="Californian FB" color=#800000 size=2>Community engagement and
collaborative partnerships are increasingly central to research agendas all over
the world. This Special Issue of Cultural Studies Review provides a
timely discussion of some challenges and difficulties raised by this kind of
intellectual work. The essays explore the opportunities that collaborative
projects provide for developing cultural studies as a practice not only
involving critique, but enabling a crucial shift from the study of culture to
the politics of cultures. Focussing on the real complexities faced by “engaged
research”, it also provides a fresh examination of current research trends both
in Australia and internationally.
