<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">As part of Professor Graeme Turner</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">’</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">s Federation Fellowship program at the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies, the University of Queensland is seeking applicants for a</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> postgraduate research scholarship working on a topic related to the Fellowship. The Federation Fellowship program investigates the role of television in a post-broadcast era increasingly dominated by new media formats such as the Internet. Given the trad</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">i</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">tional importance of television as a social institution for the democratic state, the project asks to what extent television will continue to serve such a function and whether new media forms such as online journalism are likely to take its place. The pro</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">j</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">ect will be funding one scholarship a year for the next three years.</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Professor Turner</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">’</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">s Federation Fellowship program has an international comparative remit and applicants wishing to develop comparative projects, or who are capable of working in a languag</FONT><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">e other than English, will be especially welcome. </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The scholarship comes with a modest support package for research costs and conference travel in addition to the standard APA stipend. The successful applicant would be supervised by Graeme Turner</FONT> <FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">and contribute to the activities of the Centre for Critical and Cultural Studies (CCCS) as well as the teaching School in which they would be enrolled.
