Powerhouse Museum – Sydney Design 06

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS), School of Design in
association with the Powerhouse Museum will present in form, a one day
symposium as part of Sydney Design 2006.

The aim of in form is to offer a platform for lively and stimulating
discussion as speakers explore the understanding and innovation that
occurs through the practice of design. The intention is to investigate
emerging models of practice-based design enquiry. Questions will be
raised about ways in which design may be conceived as a form of
divergent discovery and experimental research and in turn how this may
contribute to knowledge within the design professions.

Kees Dorst, Industrial Design Practitioner, Professor and author of
Understanding Design and co-author of Analysing Design Activity, will
share his views on practice-based research in the field of design. A
series of practice-based research projects will be presented and
discussed with a panel discussion to conclude the programme.

Keynote speakers: Kees Dorst, Angela Brew, Brad Hausmann
