applications from PhD students enrolled at Australian universities to
participate in its inaugural Winter Workshop for Doctoral Students.</span></font><font

color:black'>The aim of the Workshop is to assist doctoral students working on
migration related topics to develop their academic expertise and scholarly
networks. It will do this by providing an opportunity for students working on a
topic related to migration and its impact to discuss their research with peers
and mentors. Mentors will be prominent Network members including James Jupp,
Mandy Thomas and the Network Convenor, Christine Inglis. Participants will also
be introduced to important research resources which, while based in </span></font><st1:City><st1:place><font

related to migration and its diverse impact on areas including incorporation,
ethnic relations, health, education and national identity. By bringing together
researchers from diverse disciplinary backgrounds with policy makers and key
stakeholders in the community, the MRN aims to support and enhance research and
understanding surrounding these key issues in Australia and internationally.</span></font><font

their thesis topic, its conceptualisation, methodology and, if appropriate,
initial findings for discussion with the other Workshop participants and
mentors. By the 14th July all participants should submit a 5000 word paper for
pre-circulation to other Workshop participants.( Note that the Workshop will be
very intensive and may involve evening sessions.)</span></font><font size=4

university style Workshop accommodation to facilitate discussion and networking
with other participants. This accommodation may be in a University flat shared

also be arranged to major national organisations and government departments for

maximum of 10 PhD students. The final number will depend on quality of
